David Benson (aka Said Sara) is a San Francisco-based singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. In Said Sara, David Benson expresses his musical and psychological essence through an alt-folk acoustic. There is a sense of all-encompassing personalization to its music. As a child growing up in the ’70s, he was influenced by singer-songwriters such as Stevens, Croce, Taylor, and Buckingham. Benson was/is a metalhead as well as a punk during the 80s, 90s, and beyond. Before Said Sara’s self-titled EP was released in 2020, Benson wrote dark, stripped-down hymns in the early-mid 90s. Two years later, I Star as You, Bleedways, and Sea were released with an increased interest in songwriting.Known as the drummer of crust punk-turned-death metal veterans Acephalix, David’s stunning Theothanatologist album (engineered by Grammy-winner Greg Wilkinson) topped many year-end album lists.

“‘Same’ by Said Sara is worth witnessing. “

Said Sara’s song ‘Same’ was recently introduced to me. ‘Same’ is Benson’s most private release, layered with proximity and catchiness. Benson’s vocals soar over a bed of slick guitars and powerful rhythms in this moving tune. It’s an excellent finish to an astounding album and an impressive monument to Benson’s songwriting brilliance.

Overall, David Benson’s ‘Same’ is a pleasant and evocative Song. It’s a gripping display of Benson’s talent. This music gives the necessary tranquilly on even the most turbulent days. Its easing melodies and mellow tones might help you unwind, and its profound lyrics will linger with you. It’s worth a listen.
