David Benson (aka Said Sara) is a San Francisco-based singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. In Said Sara, David Benson expresses his musical and psychological essence through an alt-folk acoustic. There is a sense of all-encompassing personalization to its music. As a child growing up in the ’70s, he was influenced by singer-songwriters such as Stevens, Croce, Taylor, and Buckingham. Benson was/is a metalhead as well as a punk during the 80s, 90s, and beyond.
