Dutch artist Luigi Neighbours introduces his debut EP ‘Right Person, Wrong Lifetime’, a six-track collection shaped by grief, change, taking chances, and the idea that someday is never guaranteed. After unexpectedly losing his father in 2024, Luigi began looking at life differently. His father had been one of his biggest supporters, and the loss pushed him to stop waiting for the “right” moment. He travelled alone, wrote songs in Norway, and eventually moved from the Netherlands to London. Drawing from 2000s rock favourites like Nickelback, Daughtry, Lifehouse, and The Goo Goo Dolls, Luigi has created his own sound, which he calls Heartgrunge: Y2K rock, post-grunge, and emo blended with pop hooks and cinematic romanticism.

“A nostalgic rock heart wrapped in grief, romance, and hope.”

‘Right Person, Wrong Lifetime’ feels like someone finally choosing to move forward, even as he carries pieces of the past with him. The EP’s emotional weight is hard to separate from Luigi’s story, especially knowing his father never got to hear this chapter of his music. That makes the project’s idea about time, loss, and taking chances feel genuinely personal. ‘Supernatural’ and ‘Romance Isn’t Dead’ bring out the more romantic side of the artist’s world, while ‘Out Of Tune’ and ‘Surrogate You’ explore loneliness, longing, and emotional distance. ‘Thank You’ feels particularly meaningful within the bigger story, adding another emotional layer to an EP built around memories and the people who shape us. The title track brings the central idea together; sometimes the person can be right, the feeling can be real, and the timing can still be completely wrong. Musically, I enjoy how Luigi takes the familiar energy of 2000s rock and gives it a more cinematic, dreamy edge. The guitars bring the nostalgia, while the romantic and supernatural imagery gives the project its own identity. You must experience this emotional wave once.
