The project that we are going to have a look on today is created by the notable efforts of artists- Reggie Workman, Alon Benjimini & Asaf Even Zur. Each artist is an elaborate one and their musical inputs have made the album sound how it does. They have come together to join forces and made this amazing jazz project that is set to tickle some deep emotions in your mind.

Reggie Workman is a veteran bassist who plays with such versatility that his fingers fit both- hard bops and very avant-grade settings. He used to regularly work with old school musicians like Gigi Gryce, Red Garland and Roy Haynes. He has been a part of the John Coltrane Quartet and the Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers in the 1960s.

Alon Benjimini is a spirited drummer and an exquisite mixing and mastering engineer. He has been in the industry for quite some time now and his ears have the taste of what sounds good and what needs a little tweaking. His drumming skills will leave you waiting for more.

Asaf Even Zur is an incredible composer who brings light and a bucket of emotions with his compositions. He focuses on adding elements that target various areas of the brain to induce synesthesia. You will often find yourself feeling the sense of DejaVu while listening to Asaf as he is a master at his art of introducing the familiar to the listeners.

“Jazz that makes you feel, jazz that creates rhythms, and the jazz that induces synesthesia. Workman Benjamini Even Zur is an elaborate work by the 3 most talented artists in their respective fields.”

The album starts with the track Is That So. It does not have a very defined pattern but the instruments are playing around in symphony with each other and creating random grooves. This inconsistent rhythm makes you feel a sweet confusion and the beauty of chaos can be heard.

The next in line is Negev. This one is an intense vibe with coarse instrumental sounds. Some are even unpleasant to the ears giving the whole track a raw feel. Small build up sections create anticipation in the listener’s hears, which keeps them waiting for more.

Some honorable mentions from the project are- Equinox and Redmond. I personally fell in love with the bass work on Redmond. It is a very fresh and deep sound that the album offers. You should give it a try and let the sound grow on you.
