Alex Wellkers – Fly Away: A deep soft rock album with a variety of Opuses each with a unique message and vibration

Alex Wellkers is a Swiss music prodigy making dominantly mellow rock tracks that talk about profound topics like self-perception, deep desired and choices, challenging the beliefs of the listeners. His music opens a new perspective to think through. His choice of instrumental melodies never kill the intensity of the music which serve well to the stuff he talks about. This project artists has dropped multiple EP’s and an Album since 2014. Each song is a story in itself and has some originality and rawness embedded in it. These imperfections make us connect deeper with the artist as we relate and resonate with the messages they talk about in their songs. Alex never hesitates to experiment. One of the good examples is his track “They Will Pay” from the EP “What”. The mix has suppressed vocals and sounds heavily robotic which ultimately resulted in a sound unheard even by popular ears.

“A Folk fusion Rock album with sounds you might be new to.”

Fly Away is an experimental rock album that has introduced me to a new sound I never knew existed. If I had to describe the vibe of the album in two words it would be- mysterious and and intense. The blending in of elements like violins, and electric guitar compliment each other. The use of such instrument in rock jams are tricky but I can surely say Alex pulled it off well. He has used the classical instruments so well with rock elements that the songs make it sound like those were supposed to be played together.

The album has a warm start with the track “You Want Us” which starts with just a simple guitar chord progression and builds on with just vocals and a bit of violin. The track is pretty empty in sense of the instruments used but will surely fill your heart up with emotions.

There is something for the French fellas in the album as well. “Niemals jemals da gewesen” is a melancholic slow psychedelic rock track which will leave you pondering and with some questions in your mind. This one is followed by another French track which sounded more intense and deep to me. Alex tests his vocal range in his track. The vibrato in his vocals of this track is divine.

It is extremely hard to choose but my favorite from the album is “Do not fall” because of the upbeat sound the hip-hop rock track attained. The turnt up music moves one’s soul. Another notable mention is the immaculate and unpredictable switch at the end of the track “We Celebrate”. This switch set me up for the slow mysterious start of the next track “Making Progress”. The high sustain violins in the beginning play in a profound pattern which adds a lot of space, ambience and excitement to the track.
