South African artist Henry Cloete makes a debut under his alias “Jean;s Hill” with his unique and diverse indie instrumental EP titled “The Kelp Diaries”. The music for the album was conceived, composed and produced with the smell of kelp always in the air, soon after Henry moved to a small coastal town with his growing family. The Kelp diaries explores the feelings of a traveller spending one night in a town seeking confrontation, comfort, catharsis.

“Henry has a knack for producing emotive, inspiring and heartfelt music with an impeccable production quality and instrumental soundscapes that feel ethereal.”

The opening track “Caught In A Storm” starts off with slow somber guitar riffs, that’s until the electrifying synths come in and the beat drops which enchants the listener and keeps them hooked till the end. The song smoothly comes to an end with the same slow somber guitar riffs that it started with. Followed by “Beetle” which takes you an hypnotic jorney.

The sonic shimmers make “Eleanor” a treat for the ears. “Scatter” has a certain futuristic vibe to it, the composition is very cinematic in it’s nature and feel like like it comes out of videogame where the character is on a conquest. Album’s closing track “Kind of Dawn” leaves the listener energetic and on a high note. Henry has a knack for producing emotive, inspiring and heartfelt music with an impeccable production quality and instrumental soundscapes that feel ethereal.
