M & J recently released ‘Not A Love Song’, and you will love the vibe it creates. The Bondi duo draws from real-life experiences and often connects their music with Australia’s beaches, wildlife, and natural landscapes. The duo really captures the essence and emotions of life with beautifully honest lyrics. It feels like you are living one of your life moments when you listen to their song.

“A bittersweet, guitar-led reflection on wanting to write a love story when life has other plans.”

This one’s a little different because there’s a lovely irony at the heart of ‘Not A Love Song’. The narrator wants to write a proper song for someone they care about, imagining all the possibilities of what the relationship could become. But when those hopes never quite materialise, the song naturally becomes something else. As M & J explain, it becomes a story about the dreams rather than the relationship itself. Musically, the track carries a warm retro-soul and alternative pop character, with a full-band feel that keeps it moving without taking away from the story. It’s a song that will make you fall in love with it while still leaving you in confusion.
