‘Slay’ is my first introduction to Systimatik, and for a debut single, the band just got all my attention. Hailing from Little Roc, the quartet consisting of Thrall on vocals, Rune on guitars, Sever on bass, and XXV behind the drums, already sound like musicians who’ve spent years sharpening this chemistry. You can hear shades of groove and nu-metal in their music, and it honestly feels immersive. Knowing that this particular track was rebuilt from material originally written with their late friend and guitarist Brother John gives the release a deeper meaning. Honestly, if this first release is any indication, Systimatik aren’t here to ease their way into the metal scene. They are here to make people stop, listen, and remember their name.

‘Slay’ feels like a fight against everything that tries to pull you under. The first thing that grabbed me was how unpredictable the arrangement is. Just when I thought I would settle into the groove, the song completely shifted gears. That sudden change in rhythm and intensity genuinely caught me off guard. Thrall’s vocals sound absolutely possessed here, swinging between controlled aggression and outright fury. Rune’s guitar deserves special mention. Those crushing riffs don’t just sound heavy; they keep changing atmosphere. Server’s bass quietly fills every gap with a menacing presence, while XXV’s drumming keeps the tension climbing from beginning to end. The band literally goes full throttle in production, but that’s not it. I dare you to watch the music video alone in a dark room on full volume. Its eerie cinematic opening, unsettling visuals, and the way the camera lingers just long enough to make you uncomfortable create a constant sense that something is about to snap. By the time it’s over, you are not recovering from it; you are sitting there wondering what the hell just hit you.
