A guitarist, singer and songwriter who’s in a league of his own when it comes to rock sound, Ian Leding’s collaborative project is located in Detmold, Germany, and their music falls right in the centre of rock sound and cinema. As a collective that draws inspiration from a diverse set of genres, a few songs from this album were made in the early 90s but were never fully recorded. Fusing in the shadowy realms of darkwave, folk noir, gothic rock, this project has no heavy-duty production but just live music made with the help of his home studio that feels nothing but majestic.

Changing the way you receive dreaminess in rock music, this is a dystopian nirvana that sinks deeper into your skin the more you listen to it.
Breaking straight into a flow state with ‘Angel’, this instrumental number is packed with lots of power, mellow energy, drama and feels like a solid buil-up into the track. Reminiscent of the Nirvana type rebellious punk-rock energy, the next track ‘Girl with the Far Away Eyes’ is a beautiful track to capture the nostalgia of memories. As the vocals surprise you with an off-putting yet perfectly fitting in calm, this is a subtle and nuanced way of storytelling, that paints a black and white picture of remorse. Channeling a beautiful sense of luminosity into the album, we enter into the radiant ‘Night Horses’. What feels like a beautiful track to listen to while your in a night out, having the time of your life, this has a precious vintage energy of the 80s that feels inviting and optimistic.

Then starts the next section of the album with ‘No One Sleeps Tonight’. Carrying a grown-up, mature feel to the previous track and multitudes of enthusiasm mixed into it, this depicts a sense of dilemma that doesn’t let you sleep at night, all while feeling like a neon signboard at night, this is too cool to be true. With the next tracks in line, ‘When Youth Begins to Fade’ and ‘Strange World’, we reflect on the ongoings of one’s life as it comes to them, as different phases happen. While the first track talks about the awkward butterflies in the tummy kind of love, where you notice every single detail of the other person, the latter feels like a surreal social commentary of the world through the lens of a newly formed adult.
The mood of the track grows intense with ‘Leviathan’. A daunting and eerie moment depicting the emotions that run deep, this is a dystopian and gloomy state of mind. But ‘Wake Up’, on the contrary, feels like a breakthrough of positivity. Full of emotions, fire and enthusiasm, this feels like a call to action. Lastly, we end this album with ‘Beyond Words’. A soft and numbing expression of an ending, this isn’t just a track but rather an emotion. There couldn’t be a better end to this album in my opinion. Overall, this album will definitely turn you into a stan.
