Ping Machines Descend Into Darkness with “Down to the Other”

Hailing from Muotathal, Switzerland, Ping Machines have been doing their thing since 2009, and they’re not here to play nice. This five-piece crew with Pat Dollinger on drums, Marc Monnin and Fabian Mettler on guitars, Alex Schrutt on bass, and Benissa Schmidig on vocals, knows exactly what they’re about. They call their sound “dirt rock,” which is probably the most honest genre label.

“Birth and damnation are two sides of the same cosmic coin.”

Their latest single, “Down to the Other,” is a beast of a track that grabs you by the throat and doesn’t let go. Right from the jump, you know you’re in for something heavy, and not just in the musical sense. The song takes you on a wild ride through themes of existence, struggle, and what comes after when things don’t go so well. It’s dark, it’s intense, and it doesn’t apologize for any of it.

The guitars are thick and relentless, the rhythm section pounds away with purpose. The whole thing crescendos into this crushing finale that’s equal parts terrifying and exhilarating. They’re not trying to sand down the edges or make their sound more palatable for the masses.

If you’re into hard rock, you need to check out “Down to the Other.” Do yourself a favour and crank this one up loud.
