DownTown Mystic is back with another track, but this time, with a melodic twist to his rock energy. Based in Toms River, New Jersey, DownTown Mystic is the musical alter ego of American rockstar Robert Allen. I mean, who doesn’t know him by now? And if you don’t, you should discover his sound, which blends classic rock’n’roll, Americana, blues, and rootsy guitar pop, drawing inspiration from artists like Tom Petty and Bruce Springsteen. Known for his love of vintage guitars and analog recording, Allen has had his music featured in more than 250 TV shows and films.
“A mellow rock groove with a playful side and plenty of charm.”
‘Maybe Love’s A Crime’ takes DownTown Mystic in a slightly different direction, and that change feels refreshing. Instead of leaning into a full-on rock beat, the song has a more mellow, playful groove that gives it a character of its own. I like how it still carries that familiar vintage rock flavour while feeling lighter and a little unexpected. The guitars have room to breathe, and the rhythm makes the song easy to settle into. You should listen to this new flavour of DownTown Mystic at least once.
