CATLEA ‘s recent release ‘Someone’s Got To’ reminded me why their music feels so different from the usual pop landscape. Originally from the United States and now based in London, CATLEA has this rare gift of making deeply personal stories feel like they belong to all of us. Their music is relatable yet engaging, and that authenticity shines through. ‘Someone’s Got To’ is the first chapter of the upcoming EP ‘Aftermath,’ so let’s see what CATLEA has to offer as a head start on this music-anticipated collection.

A person with colorful hair, wearing a white garment, seated on a transparent cube against a plain background, with a focus on their tattoos and an artistic text overlay reading 'CATLEA.'

“If you are someone who’s been trying to find yourself after losing a part of who you were for someone else, then CATLEA’s ‘Someone’s Got To’ is for you.”

The moment you step into CATLEA’s world, you get caught in every emotion. ‘Someone’s Got To’ arrives like that quiet voice in your head telling you it’s okay to stop chasing people who fail to see your worth. Relating to the lyrics, I found myself completely lost in the warmth of the acoustic guitar. It wraps around CATLEA’s voice so naturally that nothing feels rushed. The line, “If you won’t love me then I will,” hits like an arrow straight into your heart and says so much with so few words. If you are someone who’s been trying to find yourself after losing a part of who you were for someone else, then ‘Someone’s Got To’ is for you.
