Have you ever had an old memory resurface out of nowhere, only to feel like it’s haunting you all over again? Joseph Turner & The Dudes of Hazard’s “The Shadow Remains” will remind you of that exact moment. The new indie/alternative outfit is making waves with their indie, dark Americana, and alternative influences, and we are absolutely loving it. Lead member Joseph Turner writes from the Dutch delta and records most of his tracks by himself. He is accompanied by The Dudes of Hazard, a rotating group of friends and collaborators who contribute to the project in different ways. Together, they are making tracks that hold emotional value and hook you with their musicality.

“Joseph Turner & The Dudes of Hazard gently tap into your emotions and inner turmoil.”
Their recent release reveals the darker side of the outfit, and you will get swayed into their world of mystery and emotion. The song talks about fear, anxiety, and the feeling that something is always lurking around the next corner. Even if I hadn’t mentioned the theme here, you would have easily guessed it through the musicality of the track. It carries you away into a world of suspense and tension once you start listening to the song, and that’s what makes this production so immersive. Diving deeper into the track feels like getting caught in a tangled rope, with each layer pulling you further into its emotional complexity. This is one of the most intense songs by Joseph Turner & The Dudes of Hazard, and if you’ve ever found yourself trapped in a cycle of emotional turmoil, you’ll likely see parts of your own story reflected in it.
