After spending some time with Philmac’s music, I realised he is more than a rapper or singer. He is an artist who likes to create for the satisfaction of the soul. Growing up between Gadsden and Birmingham, Alabama, Philmac seems to carry a little bit of everything in his sound. Southern hip-hop grit sits comfortably beside rock energy, soul warmth, and a cinematic sense of storytelling that gives his music a much wider canvas. The fact that he produces, sings, plays, and writes his songs on his own makes him a one-man band that manages everything effortlessly. Inspired by iconic artists such as Michael Jackson, Prince, OutKast, and 2Pac, Philmac creates a unique blend of classic sounds with a modern spirit.

“Philmac writes for the dreamers who never quite stopped believing.”
The first thing that grabbed my attention wasn’t the lyrics or even the hook. It was that wonderfully unusual production. The beat moves with the energy of a late-night noir film. The best part is, it’s not even dark or suspenseful, but there’s a cinematic tension running underneath everything that makes the track feel different from most hip-hop releases landing in your playlists right now. But, do not get lost in the production because the meaning behind the song is even deeper. At its heart, “Live My Life” feels like a conversation between the person you are and the person you always hoped to become. What I really enjoyed was how naturally the flow settles into the song’s atmosphere. The verses glide through the production alongside those drifting guitar lines, creating a sense of movement that never lets the song stand still. Knowing that Philmac wrote, produced, and performed the track himself only makes the experience more impressive.
