“Break the System” doesn’t tell you who LAIRD is with words; it does it through atmosphere, tension, and sheer momentum. Knowing he only stepped into music production not too long ago makes the confidence of this release even more impressive. There is a fearless energy in the way he approaches sound, almost like someone unafraid to throw himself into unfamiliar territory and make it his own. His influences may come from the modern house and festival circuit, but the mood he creates feels personal.

“LAIRD approaches music with the hunger of a newcomer and the confidence of someone who knows exactly where he’s headed.”
From the very first seconds, “Break the System” feels like a late-night city skyline glowing through fog; dark, restless, and full of anticipation. The production here is the strongest narrator, and it holds the whole mood of the song. The bassline moves with a stubborn pulse that refuses to sit still, while the kick drums hit with the kind of weight that immediately wakes up the room. I particularly enjoyed how the tension keeps building before each drop, creating that feeling of standing on the edge of something massive. The vocal snippets are used more like instruments than voices, adding texture and personality without distracting from the momentum. It is the kind of techno record that feels equally suited for a workout, a long drive after midnight, or a crowded dance floor where everyone is moving as one.
