A impactful and glorious burst of radiant energy, this EDM pop number is reminiscent of the 2016s iconic energy.
‘Fire in Rain’ is a dreamy track that is about the magnetic energy of falling in love with someone who just caught your eye in a world that feels heavy and chaotic, only for the flame of the bond to end up in ruins. Describing the hot and cold romance all of us have witnessed once in our lives, this lyrical marvel touches upon themes of nostalgia, resilience, heartbreak and also wit that comes after enduring all of these experiences. A track that is a nuanced take on human being and all the emotions that feel very one within us, no matter our differences, this is cinematic, surreal and like a fever dream. I couldn’t get enough of this track and I bet so will you!
We also got a chance to interview Aurealis, here’s how it went:
- This track feels like a league of its own! How did you manage to make it sound this heavenly?
Thank you – that means a lot. With “Fire in Rain,” I wanted the final sound to feel lush and cinematic, but still emotionally intimate. The song lives in that space between movement and vulnerability, so the production needed to shimmer without losing the human feeling underneath it.
A lot of the atmosphere came from shaping the emotional direction of the track very intentionally: the glowing synth textures, the vocal harmonies, the steady pulse, and the sense of space all had to support the same feeling. I wanted it to feel like a dance track with a heart – something you could move to, but also feel deeply.
2. What inspired your music? Describe all tangents of inspiration that have helped you develop your sound.
Aurealis is inspired by emotional pop songwriting, cinematic visuals, electronic production, and the feeling of songs that can be both beautiful and bittersweet. I’ve always been drawn to music that creates a world around the listener – not just a melody, but a whole atmosphere.
Artists like ABBA, Sarah McLachlan, Kylie Minogue, and modern electronic-pop producers have all influenced different parts of the project: melody, emotion, atmosphere, and movement. But the deeper inspiration usually comes from real life- love, loss, resilience, memory, longing, and the strange ways people keep going even after difficult seasons.
Aurealis is really about combining emotional honesty with a larger cinematic sound.
3. How do you channel emotions into your sound? Do you set any boundaries while expressing your heart out?
For me, the emotion usually starts with the writing. The songs come from real feelings and lived experiences, so I try to protect that honesty even when the production becomes big or polished.
I channel emotion by asking what the song is truly trying to say before deciding how it should sound. Some songs need shadows, some need light, and some need both at once. “Fire in Rain” needed both – heartbreak and resilience, rain and fire, sadness and motion.
As far as boundaries, yes, I do have them. I want the songs to be honest, but I don’t always need to explain every personal detail behind them. Sometimes mystery helps the listener find their own story inside the song. I try to share enough truth for the emotion to feel real, while still leaving space for the audience to connect in their own way.
4. If your music could be described in one word, what would it be and why?
Luminous.
Even when Aurealis explores darker emotions, there is usually some kind of light still present – a spark, a memory, a hope, or a sense of beauty surviving inside the difficulty. “Fire in Rain” is a perfect example of that. It is about holding onto something glowing even when everything around it feels uncertain.
5. What inspired the stage name Aurealis?
The name Aurealis felt like it carried the right kind of light. It suggests something glowing, atmospheric, and slightly celestial, which fits the emotional and visual world of the project.
Aurealis is meant to feel cinematic and luminous, but also human. The name gives me room to explore both sides of the music – the bright, expansive songs and the darker, more shadowed ones – while still keeping everything connected under one identity.
6. Are there any future collaborations you feel inspired to work towards?
I’m open to collaborations that feel emotionally aligned with the world of Aurealis. I would love to work with visual artists, dancers, filmmakers, remixers, or other musicians who understand the project’s balance of cinematic atmosphere and emotional storytelling.
For me, collaboration has to feel like it expands the world of the song rather than just adding something on top of it. If the right creative person connects with the music and brings another layer of meaning or movement to it, I’m absolutely open to that.
