Just like its name, the song actually gives you strength and makes you feel a little braver. Mister Chorister’s voice is simply magical, there is something very addictive about him. But hey! Why don’t you listen to this masterpiece and tell us how you feel about it?

Question. “Brave” carries a strong message of resilience and self belief. Can you share the personal moment or experience that led you to create such an intense song?

  • There wasn’t a single moment. Brave grew from a period of reflection in my life, looking back at the decisions I had made over decades, the right ones and the wrong ones, and asking whether I had truly followed the path I was meant to, whether I had followed my purpose.

For a long time, I stepped away from music out of fear, choosing security over something uncertain, but deeply important. That reflection brought music sharply back into focus.

Writing Brave became a way to reconnect with the creative part of myself and to turn the fear and hesitation I had carried for so long into something positive. For me, it was about choosing courage, believing in resilience, and taking that leap even though it still felt risky.

Question. What was the turning point that pulled you back into songwriting after a long break, and how did that time away shape your artistic voice?

  • Returning to songwriting was not a sudden decision but a quiet call that grew louder over time. Being away from it allowed me to experience life fully, partnership, parenthood, challenges, heartbreak, and reinvention. Those years gave me a depth of perspective and emotional understanding that I could not have achieved as a younger artist.

It also helped me to clarify what truly mattered. At the turning point, I originally intended only to record songs that I had written decades ago, but in reconnecting with music, I began creating new songs that spoke to the present while still honouring the past.

That balance of reflection and new energy shaped my artistic voice and gave it a sense of honesty and purpose that I hope connects across generations.

Question. After taking inspiration from greats like Bruce Springsteen and The Killers, how do you manage to maintain your own authenticity?

  • For me, authenticity comes from listening to the voice within, rather than trying to replicate anyone else. Brave, like everything I write, comes from that reflective dialogue with myself, the part that wants to speak honestly, take risks, and connect through real, if sometimes slightly obfuscated, stories.

That is what I always admired in the great folk, pop, rock, and country artists I grew up listening to. There is a sense that art moves forward by building on what came before, taking influence and adding something personal to it.

I firmly believe that the influence of others should light the path but never dictate the destination.

Question. Growing up with Australian roots and now creating in London, how have these different environments influenced your storytelling and musical identity?

  • Growing up in Australia gave me a sense of openness and imagination. Music was everywhere and mattered to everyone, from playing records at home, listening to the radio, or watching Countdown with Molly Meldrum, to long car journeys accompanied by carefully crafted mixtapes.

I spent countless weekends searching record stores, discovering new artists, and immersing myself in the stories and worlds that albums could create. That constant presence of music and the culture of exploration and creativity shaped my early musical identity, teaching me to listen closely, experiment, and tell stories through sound.

Moving to London introduced a different rhythm of life and exposed me to a diversity of sounds, perspectives, and opportunities. It brought a precision to my approach and allowed me to work with experienced tutors who continue to help focus and refine my understanding of music and songwriting.

The combination of these environments has shaped a voice that is reflective, melody driven, and hopeful. I believe it allows me to write songs that feel personal yet universal, grounded yet expansive.

Question. The track feels both introspective and expansive, with a sense of personal reflection. When writing “Brave,” were you thinking more about your own journey or the listener’s?

  • Brave was shaped by many influences. I was inspired by seeing people step out and take risks, but as I wrote, I realised it was also becoming about my own experiences. My usual process is to start with the chorus and pre-chorus, then move into the verses, and that is when I began weaving in personal moments.

As I explored multiple perspectives, I noticed the song was taking on a more universal character. At the same time, I started thinking of it as a dialogue with my alter ego, which allowed it to work from multiple angles, speaking to anyone facing doubt, fear, or the challenge of starting again.

Brave is deeply reflective for me. I am immensely grateful for the experiences that made it possible. I hope listeners can hear themselves in it, find their own courage, and feel inspired to take their own leaps.

Question. What impact do you want “Brave” to make on the listeners? What is the ultimate message you want to send?

  • I want Brave to remind listeners that it is never too late to reconnect with your purpose. Courage shows up in big leaps, but more importantly in the little steps. I want people to feel it in their bones that even after setbacks, loss, or fear, there is always room to rediscover themselves and become who they are meant to be.

At its core, Brave celebrates resilience, hope, and self belief. I hope it encourages listeners to trust in themselves and take the steps they need to be their best selves.

Even if those small steps feel scary, they are necessary to make the big leaps.
