As someone who’s lived through the rad and sad array of circumstances and emotions in her life with the help of music, Lisa Jo is truly a living sensation who needs to be celebrated. As someone who’s endured a lot of personal losses of loved ones, and the worst of traumas and pain, the name Lisa Jo carries a lot of strength and weight to it. The fact that she’s not only made a mark on the music world but also published her plight tells you that Lisa’s truly a heart of steel, and someone a lot of us can learn from. Her depth, her music and her life learnings sweep you off your feet in the best way possible.

Rhyme schemes, tones and textures of different genres and feels all put together to create the harmony we miss around us. This is beautifully raw.
The moment you start listening to ‘Hood Rats, ‘ you feel straight-up inspired. ‘Everyday Struggle’ is about trying to multi-manage and casually go with the flow amidst life’s struggles. This is as realistic as it can get. ‘Voodoo’ follows a similar theme, showing a glimpse of the reality of how evil the world can truly get. Catch rhyme schemes; this explores the alternate, not-so-talked-about themes of life that make you bitter.
‘Hope in the Hood’ and ‘Everybody’s Friend’ are what completely shift the narrative theme. This is a ray of positivity and a song that makes you feel pumped up. While making one peep through the depths life truly has, these tracks almost tear one’s shallowness apart. ‘Instascam’ is a commentary on the dark reality of social media platforms. The way almost everything you see there is pretentious, for validation and through a filter, makes you rethink about life, humanity and how low the bar to it is. Bitter, yes, but undeniably true.

‘Unbroken’ feels like the bridge of this album. While the first track, ‘Unbroken’, is about fierceness and owning your story, this is like a power battery to your confidence. Teaching you how nothing can break you and every loss is a lesson, this is awe-inspiring in the best way possible. The second track feels like a reminder to embrace yourself the way you are. This is a beautiful track that motivates you to stand tall in your own skin, and even if you feel lacklustre, you still have people standing on the same land as you, receiving light from the same sun, so forgive yourself.
Overall, I feel like this album encompasses the wide world of emotions and complexities we experience in life, and I feel like it brings together so many people from different walks of life.
