Released on Halloween, “Cirque du Sŏnus” is a two-act conceptual project that marks the official launch of Circum Sonus Ltd as an actual, documented business entity. Gibson has literally turned myth into legal reality, and decided to celebrate by creating what can only be described as a dark-pop circus ceremony. Act I: The Chant serves as your ticket into the tent: hypnotic, repetitive, and designed to get under your skin. Act II: The Command is the main show, complete with sharper verses and a knowing wink at the end: “hope you enjoyed the performance.” Together, they form one complete experience that’s equal parts eerie, entertaining, and oddly empowering.
The whole thing runs on circus metaphors. The trapeze, tightrope, fire breathing, and disappearing acts all serve as language for something deeper, the push and pull of control, the thrill of danger, the way we all perform for each other, whether we admit it or not.
