Chris Calarco has been building something special under his alias The Numb Project. Based in Portland, Oregon, he’s spent years creating downtempo beats. With five albums, an EP, and six singles under his belt, Calarco’s tracks have a way of pulling you off the main road and into more interesting territory, the kind of beats that work for focused listening or just setting the right vibe in your space.

“Time slips through our fingers like water, but music catches what remains.”

His latest single, “Dream”, centers around these beautiful, bittersweet piano lines that immediately set a reflective tone. Both this track and its companion piece, “Limited Minutes Remain”, were created as tributes to someone Calarco loved. It explores how we relate to time and the people we share it with. He has a knack for creating tracks that work on multiple levels.

If you’ve been sleeping on The Numb Project, now’s a good time to catch up. His catalog keeps growing, and each release shows an artist who’s more interested in exploring new ideas. “Dream” is another strong addition to that body of work, proving that downtempo production can be both intellectually interesting and genuinely moving.
