The Kristoffer develops through a series of reflective and nostalgic tracks, each of which represents a new musical chapter in Kiirstin’s homage and mourning journey. An exquisite collection of melodies that drift from one feeling to another, “Kristoffer” is dedicated to her late brother. The opening song, “Beyond the Bad,” uses swelled string arrangements and repetitive guitars to emphasize intense emotion. As the second track, “Real Life,” builds in intensity, it subtly reawakens Kiirstin’s rock musical heritage. “Real Life” builds upon the album’s themes and provides a seamless transition to “Twenty-Five,” the third track. A return to a softer, more soulful sound characterizes in this thrid track, highlighting the delicacy of Kiirstin’s production and vocal delivery. “Train Tracks,” which features the return of the guitars in a rock-laden swing, is another notable track on “Kristoffer.” With “Older” as our last track, this album tantalizes my taste buds and begs me to go further into Kiirstin’s discography.
