Just over 40 years ago, bassist David Finck uprooted his life and made New York City his new home, where he immediately became a dominant presence in the American jazz scene. Only in the 2000s did Finck emerge as an independent musician and band leader, but he is now widely recognised as one of the most accomplished acoustic jazz musicians.

David Finck wrote and produced the tune “Só Pra Dizer” as the Covid epidemic wreaked havoc on performances on stage and hindered artists’ livelihoods. Finck recruited poet Celso Viafora and vocalist Téka Peneriche in this heartfelt song using the power of virtual cooperation. All of the songs on A Beautiful Friendship have an underlying acoustic jazz tone, including “I’m All Smiles” and “On My Way To You,” but “Só Pra Dizer” adds a touch of soulful bossa nova to the tune. Despite the single’s powerful sensuality and rich comfort the swaying samba rhythm is kept steady by a straightforward jazz tone.

Listening to ‘Só Pra Dizer’ is like wandering in a fragrant acoustic fog; it’s rhythmic and melodic, and it completely intoxicates you. Catch the muse down here:

“The acoustic jazz on Só Pra Dizer is certain to put you at ease.”
