GALVO spent his formative years in the 1980s in the Ballymun flats, where he was exposed to drug use and gun violence. His family relocated from Ballymun to the quieter Dublin neighbourhood of Swords, and it was there that he found music and kindred spirits.

“GALVO transforms his album “The HeARTist” into a visual masterpiece.”
The HeARTist is a unique indie-folk album with 14 heartfelt, emotionally resonant tracks. The songs are unfiltered and full of feeling; at moments they are so fragile that you worry they will shatter, and at other times they are full-bodied, thick compositions that brim with certain assurance. They have a catchy melody and plenty of memorable hooks without becoming cloying. They are grounded on the author’s own history, including childhood abuse, romantic disappointment, religious doubt, the struggle for independence, and the futile fight against overwhelming odds. Lyrically, GALVO may be both clear and straightforward at times, and impressionistic and surreal at others, but he always writes from his own unique perspective.
HeARTist is an album that was clearly made with love and care. Try it out and subscribe to Muse Chronicles to read the most honest critiques of today’s music.
