The Italian-born, London-based guitarist and composer Richard Green has been building his portfolio since moving to the UK in 2012, armed with formal training and a genuine understanding of what makes music stick with you.

“Sometimes the wrong ending teaches us more than the right one ever could.”
“Ending Up in the Wrong Way” is inspired by Green’s own 2023 relationship that didn’t work out. This track captures that specific feeling when you realize things aren’t going to turn around, but you’re not quite ready to walk away either. The lead melody carries the entire emotional weight here, bringing together dreamy synth pads and chillwave textures.
Green layers electronic elements that shimmer and retreat, while his guitar work provides just enough warmth to keep the track from floating away entirely. We’ve all been in relationships that didn’t end dramatically; they just… ended. Green captures that quiet devastation perfectly.
Part of the larger “Illusions” album, this single proves that Green understands something fundamental about heartbreak: it’s rarely about the big moments. It’s about the small realizations, the gradual acceptance, the way you eventually stop checking your phone.
“Ending Up in the Wrong Way” doesn’t promise you’ll feel better after listening, but it does promise you won’t feel alone in the feeling.
