HamHead’s “Sling” Proves Internet Jamming Is the Future of Rock

In HamHead, you’ve got Tim Coletti cooking up ideas in Massachusetts, Jeff Plate hammering away in New York (when he’s not busy with Trans Siberian Orchestra, Savatage, or Metal Church), and Joe Clapp shredding from his corner of New England. These three don’t even need to be in the same room anymore because they’re literally jamming through the internet. The point is, when you’ve got this much talent scattered across state lines, you better believe they’re going to figure out a way to make noise together.

“A seven-minute descent into controlled chaos, where every twist arrives precisely when comfort threatens to settle in.”

“Sling” is the result of these guys finally getting back together after Jeff got swept up in the big leagues with Savatage years ago. It’s their first proper jam release, and they’ve clearly been saving up the good stuff. The track barrels through seven-ish minutes of instrumental mayhem that bounces between crushing riffs, trippy detours, and guitar solos that could legitimately cause hearing damage in the best possible way.

If you’re into bands like Tool, Mastodon’s instrumental cuts, or anything that requires actual musicianship instead of just vibes and a laptop, you need to hear this. “Sling” proves that three dudes jamming over the internet can create something that sounds bigger and more alive than most fully-produced albums you’ll hear this year.

Add it to your rotation and give it a spin.
