Blues Corner’s “Piggy Bank Blues” Speaks to the Broke Generation

The band, Blues Corner, started when Phil Roman, who’d spent years working in England’s music industry, decided to chuck it all in 2021 and move back to France to play the music he actually loved. He linked up with Seb Oroval, a self-taught guitarist who grew up on all the classic blues records.

“Stuck between paychecks and promises that never quite land.”

Their new single, “Piggy Bank Blues”, hits different because it’s talking about stuff we all deal with but rarely hear in songs anymore. It’s about counting pennies, watching your bank account, and feeling like you’re stuck in place while everyone else moves forward. The groove is hypnotic, the guitars have that perfect amount of grit, and Phil’s vocals deliver like someone speaking from the trenches.

This is blues that connects with what people are actually going through right now. Financial stress, feeling stuck, watching opportunities pass by, these are the things keeping people up at night, and “Piggy Bank Blues” doesn’t offer false comfort. The track just acknowledges them in a way that feels cathartic. Sometimes you need a song that gets it, you know?

“Piggy Bank Blues” proves that the blues still has plenty to say about the modern world; you just need artists who are willing to be honest about it.
