Andrea Pizzo and The Purple Mice Build a Universe Around Technology and Humanity in their Latest Album, “Transhumanity”

From Genova, Italy emerges a group of friends from Genova, Italy, who share a love for science, storytelling, and rock music. Led by vocalist and songwriter Andrea Pizzo, along with his wife Raffaella Turbino, who helps write the lyrics, the band has put together a debut album, “Transhumanity.” If you’re into Pink Floyd, Muse, or David Bowie, you’ll recognise that same spirit of pushing boundaries and not playing it safe. This is a band that wants to make you think while you listen.

“The album that asks if we’re building tomorrow or losing yesterday.”

“Transhumanity” is an 11-track concept album that doesn’t fit neatly into one box. The album tells a story that connects science, imagination, and what it means to be human. Andrea Pizzo and The Purple Mice spent years thinking about technology, space, and where humanity is headed. They’ve built the album around actual historical figures and original characters. Ada Lovelace, the world’s first computer programmer, shows up. So does Nikola Tesla, the inventor who changed how we think about electricity. Thomas Edison makes an appearance, too.

The production strikes a nice balance between electronic elements and real instruments. The closing song, “Goodbye”, is particularly powerful. After taking you through all these historical figures and futuristic ideas, the band strips everything back to something worth thinking about. It’s a brave choice to end such an ambitious album on a gentle note, but it reminds you that underneath all the big ideas, this is really about people, our vulnerabilities, our hopes, our fears about the future. It’s the human side of a project that could have easily gotten lost in concepts.

It’s easy to imagine this album as the soundtrack to a thoughtful sci-fi film. There’s a classic rock ambition here, a throwback to when albums were meant to be experienced as complete works rather than just playlists. Andrea Pizzo and The Purple Mice trust their listeners to follow along with something substantial, and that trust pays off.
