Raw Soul is a Libyan rapper/Emcee who currently makes music from Vancouver, Canada. His bold bars can sometimes make you uncomfortable but be sure that he presents reality through rhymes. He exhibits immaculate craftsmanship through the words that he uses and plays with the rhythms like a pro. If you are looking for something legit to listen to, Raw Soul’s songs could be a great fit. Creative flexes and hard punches are a staple in his music. It seems like his writing process is rather meditative as he dives deep into his subconscious to bring out the art for us listeners. He draws self-portraits and paintings of the world inside him through his songs. This gives us a peak into the artist’s reality and life and he forms a deep connection with the listeners. For me personally, his songs bring with them hope and light. He reminds us through his lyrics that things might not always go as we plan and sometimes even worse, but what we make out of it is up to us and we shine harder every time we overcome our setbacks. The artist’s inspirations include legendary rappers/musicians like Kendrick Lamar, Mac Miller, J. Cole, Nas, Tupac, Jonwayne, Slug of Atmosphere, Linkin Park, System of a Down and more. His music will give you a deeper perspective on life.
“Raw Soul has been consistently dropping bangers since 2020 but this project totally stands out, offering us a deeper insight into the artist’s life journey.”
‘Journey//Destination’ is a deep work of art. With beat choices that offer the listeners a wide pallet of flavours and lines that carry with them utter confidence and often introspection, the album will be a treat for your ears. Raw Soul tries to dive deep into his own mind and offer us his personal insights on self-discovery, perseverance and celebration. The album starts with a very grand sample that features female vocals and violins that seem to have dropped right from heaven(Song name: Terra). The rhyme scheme that Raw hits in the first verse is simplistic yet so impactful. The instrumentals seem to draw inspiration from J Cole’s beats.
One of my favourite tracks from the album is ‘2012‘. It has a melancholic melody and the lyrics tell us about the artist’s past and his journey. He raps with a laid-back voice and that makes the song sound so ‘Gangster’. The song hits the vibe right and I would love to hear it is a Mafia movie of some sort.
