Hyde Out – Moonfactory: A genre blending masterpiece

Hyde Out is a very creative musical band from Landon, England. It is led by Omar Merlo and Jaka Levstek. The band cannot be contained in a genre as they keep exploring and blending various styles to create a unique musical presentation. Their influences range from British Alt-Pop to American Folk music and from Pop-Rock to Hard Rock. The band took its time to understand its strengths, weaknesses and uniqueness with some demo projects and collaborations. In 2020, they showcased their softer side with the album Smoke and Mirrors. This was followed by their second album titled Tunnel Vision which featured three of the band’s most famous songs ‘When the Winter Comes’, ‘Over This’ and ‘Armchair Uprise’. In Tunnel Vision, the band explores hard rock and their rhythm-heavy musicality. Hyde Out never disappoints with the musical variety that they offer and everyone will find something that fits their taste in their discography.

Hyde Out

“Moonfactory is an album that explores topics that are deep and have relevance in real life. They present this in such an impactful manner that it holds the power to transform one.”

‘Moonfactory’ is an artistic expression that showcases Hyde Out’s ability to bring influences from various genres and create a sound so unique and heartwarming. The album is a work that travels through eras with elements from 90s British pop-rock, 60s and 70s folk, 80s electro-pop and contemporary pop and rock. All these influences may seem far apart but the way the band blends the energies of these styles is incredible. Each section is a work of art and is crafted with details like harmonized and muffled vocals, out-of-the-box melodies and unique drum sounds.

One of my top picks from the album is ‘Dedicated to the Ones who want me dead’. The song starts with a simple guitar melody and lyrics filled with emotions and truth bombs at the same time. The track slowly progresses to a high-energy section with electrifying guitar riffs that play notes that introduce ambiguity and mystery. The vocal modulation and texture on this track are amazing and full of substance. Let us know your favourite tracks from the album down in the comments.
