“Fried Rice” by Jeán et Joie is as Beautiful as it is Painful.

Formed in 2022 by musician and lyricist Grey Jeán, Jeán et Joie is a music band that consists of Grey, their fiancé Gabrielle Néla along with the drummer and guitar duo Ikaika and Dash from the LA based band, Flamango Bay. Grey grew up in a household with catholic beliefs surrounded by music and was always drawn to music. Grey got exposure to music throughout her teenage year through different means like choirs, open mic nights, and even live performances and concerts in her later life. Jeán et Joie’s latest single “Fried Rice” is out now.

“Jeán et Joie’s musical genius can make even the pain sound beautiful and we see that in their latest single Fried Rice”

I will be honest with you guys; I had not heard Jeán et Joie until recently and before I hit the play button on their latest single “Fried Rice” I thought I was in for a joyous funny song, but boy was I surprised. The band’s description of their music as “Mournful folk with a hopeful glow” is perfectly apt for their songs and that is what “Fried Rice” is. It is a beautiful song with dreamy vocals and soul-soothing music which is poetically painful. But you would want to experience this pain again and again to listen to this song. The lyrics pierce through your heart like a sharp spear and anyone who has loved ever in their life will feel the lyrics to their core. I do not want to ruin this beautiful song by overexplaining it, so do me and yourselves a favor and go listen to “Fried Rice” right away.
