Kimberly Morgan York adds her twist to the country music genre and creates songs authentic to her. Each track is emotive and presents a long array of thoughts and feelings. Her Appalachian roots influence her music style and it characterizes her music. With her music, she will make you feel a multitude of emotions using relatable lyrics and instrumentals that draw inspiration from the classic genres. You can find inspiration from the 70s and 80s music in her tracks. She brings back the old country energy back to the music scene.
“A light-hearted, country pop project I would love to start my day with.”
‘FUN’ is an upbeat country fusion song with some fun, vibrant sounds and grooves that will make you want to dance. It is the first song from Kimberley’s LP titled the same as this song. This project creates a strong artistic persona for Kimberley and might prove to become a huge milestone in her musical career. The whole project has a carefree and positive tone to it while addressing the negetive aspects as well and ‘FUN’ is a track that sets the mood right for you to go ahead and enjoy the rest of the LP. The saucy guitar riffs and acoustic drum sounds when blended with her vocals create an unmatchable vibe. The song talks about how other people could have had fun if they stuck around but it’s their loss now that they have run away. Overall, the song is a very positive and energetic one and could become your go-to song that lightens up your day.
The second song of the LP titled ‘People Don’t Like It’ is an amazing reminder for you to stay who you truly are and not care about what people think about you. Most of their judgments are rooted in a place of insecurity and the disability to see someone else prosper and be happy. The guitar solo on this one caught my attention.
Another great song is ‘Best’, which for me acted like a bridge between the first half and the second half of the LP. It is a slow vibe that talks about the past and the happy memories while laying bare the artist’s urge to go back in time when the situation seemed to be better. It is a song that expresses the grief of losing a connection with someone you valued at a point in your life.
