Spouses is a very unique artist from Iceland, Hella. They started off by creating lo-fi tracks that drew inspiration from folk music. Those songs gave a very nostalgic feel. They have not lost their nostalgic obsession but have tweaked their music style a bit by moving closer to rock that sounds like the The Strokes & Elephant 6 collective. The constant sonic evolution is pretty interesting to witness.

“Indian Summer brings a very new energy to the table. As always, Spouses drip with nostalgia.”
The hook of the track sounds pretty cool and will get stuck on your tongue just like it did on mine. The song has a very retro sound to it. It actually sounds like how it would be if the older musicians came to this era and created songs. The horns used add character and flavor to the song. The band has also smartly placed a very interesting section in the song. Listen to the song and you will find out what I am talking about. The textured guitar strums sound pretty amazing and groovy. The vocal processing used in the song is telephonic and enhance the vintage feels of the song. In some parts, the vocals even distort, but the distortions sounds very controlled and smooth.
