Me & Melancholy – Under Cover, Part 2: Electronica & Pop re-interpreted

Me & Melancholy is a brain child of musician and producer Peter Ehrling. He will create his space in the pop-electronic genre as a result of his unique sound. The focus is on Electronica and presenting it in a new way. Each song encapsulates a different feel with dominantly synth-based sounds. His music is what I would call Retro-modern. With sounds from the older music scene (70s, 80s and 90s) and production style that comes form modern, electronic genres, Me & Melancholy creates tracks that sound totally fresh and distinct from its counterpart in today’s world. Peter is a self-taught musician and has focused on trying out creative artistic experiments that turned out to actually sound great. His music presents a new landscape for the listeners while still paying tribute to his musical influences.

ME & MELANCHOLY - Under Cover, Part 2

“Me and Melancholy is what you would call rhythm heavy electronica. The infectious tunes will make you feel the deepest emotions in a most subtle way.”

The album ‘Under Cover, part 2′ is a 9-song album by Me & Melancholy. The album contains re-imagined covers of various older songs. The artist presents us with his interpretation of the songs in his musical language. The whole album has a dark vibe to it and the beats hit hard. With the use of sparkly sounds, the melancholic vibe of the songs are contrasted and it creates a sweet and sour emotion in the listeners’ minds.

3e Sexe is the second song of the album and one of my favorites too. It was originally created by Indochine. Me & Melancholy’s version of the song features Zeyneb. Peter says- “I have always loved the bassline of this song and it’s my favorite Indochine song.” Peter’s goal with this song was to make the drums harder hitting. When the intense drums combine with Zeyneb’s smooth and sweet vocals, the vibe is unmatchable.

Another favorite from the album is ‘Socker’. The effortless vocal delivery add rawness and texture to the song. The synth work and the fast arpeggios in this one is immaculate. The song has a heavy groove and you can easily dance to it. The song was originally created by Kent the band and is one of Peter’s favorite bands.
