Husband, Father, Actor and Music Producer, this 40 year old artist has a lot of skills fit deep in his pockets. Arjay Smith is creating some crazy vibes with his musical abilities. His style is pretty unique and fresh for the ears. Each track is deep and meditative with elements that will calm your nerves down. His goal with his sound tracks is healing the mind and the heart and this purpose is what keeps his going. Each track is pure and serine and you can clearly identify the artistic authenticity that Arjay delivers. As he claims, his pieces hold a part of himself that he expresses sonically and that’s what makes his sound so authentic. I would describe his music as ‘Meraki’ which is a word derived from the Greek language. The word loosely translates to “the essence of yourself” and that is what defines the music that I heard. If you are a thoughtful listener of music, you would not be able to help it but connect with Aray’s beautiful expressions.

“Old Man Rookie Instrumentals is an artistic project full of surprises. The meditative vibe will put you on a trance.”
The album is an amazing example of authentic sound. Nothing pretentious or unnecessarily dramatic about the songs that was used to make it entertaining. Yet, the album stands high with astonishing energy. Each track is a representation of a mood that us humans experience on a regular basis. The isolation emotional triggers in the songs is what makes it so enjoyable and deep. Now, let us have a look at my favorite track from the album.
Dead Pres. is my pick from the project that stood out for me. It was hard to choose any one track as each one is unique and carries a specific energy with itself. The track starts off with repetitive snaps static white noise. Then the muddy synths are introduces with the boombap beat patters. The ambient vocal samples and sprinkles SFX will keep your mind engaged throughout, giving you constant ear candies.
