Dave Hawley is a reputed multi-instrumentalist and producer known for his ability to simulate immaculate atmospheres through his musical compositions. He plays instruments like guitars, bass, keys, piano, organ, percussions and drums. His music is mainly influenced by genres like Jazz, Rock, Post-Rock, and Fusion. The tracks stick to a particular vibe and the instruments sit perfectly to narrate a story that heedful audience can comprehend without the use of language. Other artists involved in the creation of the album are Eric Buratty, James Bjork and Jen Hawley who gave their inputs in both the creation process and unmatched enhancement of the tracks. The contribution of these artists in drums, saxophones, trumpets, vocals & harmonica made the tracks how they now sound.

“Dave Hawley’s Open Till Late is like a box of relishable chocolates, Zestful and full of pleasant surprises.”
I would like to elaborate on the title of the album first, “Open Till Late”. This interpretation was made while being unaware of what the artist meant by it but for me, the title instantly takes my thoughts to a food joint or a bar that stays open till late and provides a place to sit down and relax after a long day. This is arguably how the album makes me feel too.
The ride starts with a saxophone intense piece ‘Saudade’ which has high attack drums giving the whole track a subtle swing. The melodies are calming and spacious which gives the listeners opportunity to ponder over the instrumentals. The next song ‘Blatherskite’ is more upbeat with sweet guitar riffs and puts you on a light groove. My favorite from the album remains ‘Propinquity’. The smooth vocals sooth the ears with frequent instrumental ear candies. I will leave the rest of the tracks for you to check out by yourself to form a perception. I can assure you that the whole album is a holistic one considering the feels that it switches through over the whole 33 minutes.
