Hazel Mei is a Brisbane based singer/songwriter who is a master of Jazz/Pop music creating waves in Australia and the global music scene. Her Voice is nothing short of magic and feels like velvet to the ears. The artist holds the power to beautifully blend indie-pop with jazz and neo-soul elements to create something completely hers creating a unique sonic experience that is soul-soothing, to say the least. Her carefully crafted music has something very unconventional about it, which makes a Hazel Mei song very original to the artist and easily recognizable as well. Since her debut in 2018, Mei has given us so many meaningful tracks that inspire you and move you from within. With her soothing voice and star-like persona, Hazel Mei is set to take the music industry by storm.
“Hazel Mei’s soulful and sultry voice and powerful lyricism will take you to a journey you won’t want to end.”
The Memo is one of the great albums that you never can praise enough. I am flabbergasted to see Hazel Mei’s talent and how wonderfully she crafts a sonic experience that is beyond magical. Her sweet voice is so hypnotizing that anyone would pay to listen to her all day long. The Memo showcases the beauty of pop and jazz by being craft fully blended into one sonic experience that transcends excellence. The lyrics are written such that the majority of the population would relate to them and might find strength in their everyday battle. The entire album is a story of perspective change that in my understanding talks about trust, betrayal, strength and the importance of meaning in life. The Album consists of six songs in total, each worth listening to a thousand times. My personal favorite song from the album is Downtown which I find very inspiring and empowering. The song encourages us to not give up and to take the hardships of the life easy, as the singer says “Your scar feel like paintings of your path”, which is a beautiful message telling us that it is all worth it and it all makes sense at the end. Not just Downtown, but every song on this EP is a gem and if I start writing about it all, the day will fall short. So it is better if you listen to the album in a go and understand how great each song is.
