Brooklyn-based musician Breon S.Y.N.D.E.L creates music that captures the feeling of a high-octane, no-holds-barred experience, which he well understands. An event involving drag racing sparked his need to express himself creatively and helped form the stripped-down, self-indulgent, and mysterious sound that would become his signature. His newest release, a three-song EP titled “Recovery 2,” is a continuation and expansion of this style.

The EP kicks off with “Caution,” a 90-second track with a lot of heart that gives the listener a feeling of floating. Breon’s smooth, processed voice glide serenely over a chill rhythm, with a soft synth sound serving as the backdrop. The alternative hip hop music of “Without Love” is lively and exciting. The music is replete with snare hits and other percussion instruments, and Breon’s vocal performance is flawless.  “Hit & Run,” a dazzling alternative R&B track, serves as the EP’s finale. Here, smooth rhythmic undercurrents and sophisticated synth pulses combine with upbeat melodic leads.
