“An invigorating concept of sounds brought together with the threads of dark pop and electronica, transporting you to an alien world.”

“Memorias de Crónicas Futuras [Remastered Edition 2023]” is a semi-conceptual album that centers on the phases of a series of ethereal memories. The album reflects on states of fascination with initial love, procrastination, confusion, social epiphany, frustration, redemption, and finally uncertainty with hope, and promises to immerse the listener in a dark yet hopeful listening experience.

The unique choice of combinations of thought-provoking music, complex industrial elements, and futuristic experimental tunes, different in each of the nine songs of the album, awakens a desire in you to stay and play the record over and over again.

From their band’s inception to the evolution of their sound over two decades, we uncover the intricate stories behind the group’s formation, their ambitious ‘REMASTERS FINALES’ project, and the art of balancing contrasting emotions within their music.

  1. How did the band come together? Can you share the story of how you all met and decided to form a group?
Horizonte Lied: The band was initially formed in high school, we were very young and we were already friends from school, the decision to create the band came after becoming fans of Depeche Mode and other similar bands around that time, the fascination with creating our own synthesized & sampled sounds and finally using them to compose our own songs with our limited equipment became a passion (and a challenge) we could never put down since.
  2. The “REMASTERS FINALES” project is an ambitious undertaking. What prompted the decision to remaster and release tracks from your entire body of work, and how does this project tie into your musical journey?
Horizonte Lied: The idea started a while back around 2010 and 2014, because we felt that our initial releases never got the promotion we thought they deserved, and other material never was officially released or published, only a demo here and there, using Soundcloud or ReverbNation casually, and in recent times that has changed a lot with the help of distribution services, social media, and advertisement tools like google/Facebook ads, and several other contemporary advantages; we also feel that we’ve learned and gained more skills about modern sound mixing/mastering techniques, so we loved the idea to update our songs using them (a somewhat similar concept developers use with their remastered videogames), and finally offer an improved complete music catalog & now also with the support of our own record label.
  3. Your music is described as both dark and hopeful. How do you strike a balance between these contrasting emotions, and what message do you hope to convey to your listeners through this duality?
Horizonte Lied: Precisely the duality is what we usually try to convey, sometimes more clearly and sometimes more obscure, but the intention is in offering a balance, we all experience human emotions and we all struggle with them daily, so, in the end, we usually try to give a sense of hope in the music even when the lyrics are dark or vice versa, it’s a complex process and we sometimes achieve it in the right way and sometimes not so clear, we are aware of that and don’t try to pretend otherwise but at least we believe in the direction/foundation of our musical philosophy.
  4. Band dynamics are essential for success. How do you ensure that everyone’s creative input is respected and integrated into your music?
Horizonte Lied: As with every band, this is one of the aspects that we’ve had our agreements and disagreements, it’s been a long process of maturity and finding each one of us our roles in the band since its inception, in recent years, we had very in-depth/very sincere discussions about the dynamics and identity between us, that we think has helped a lot to find a balance between our musical interests and direction, our different creative inputs and specific participations in the studio, live settings, band image, etc.
  5. It’s been almost 20 years since your debut How has your music evolved over the years, and what factors have influenced this evolution?
Horizonte Lied: To be fair, we’ve been on & off between several years for different reasons, but we are aware at least internally that our evolution is still in progress, we still have a lot of music to release that has been kept under wraps and is still evolving for a long time, but being more specific, there are external factors that have impacted each of us individually, some of us started listening to different genres like progressive trance, indie alternative, new age, and modern synth-wave in recent years and we are fascinated with some of the techniques they use, some of them we try to implement in our own production but more oriented as little embellishments, in the end, we like to try new things but always maintaining our core foundation in terms of composing/producing new music.
Lyrically we love a mixture of simplicity with complexity and we are also evolving constantly with modern issues and what surrounds us culturally.
