Join us as we go behind the scenes with Gianfranco Pescetti, gaining insight into his creative process, evolution of his music, and the challenges he has faced in his journey.

1)Which artists or bands have influenced your musical style the most?
I have been definitely influenced by certain bands on the darker side of the eighties. The Cocteau Twins are definitely the one band I listened to the most, but also artists like Kate Bush, Depeche Mode, and The Cure have had a significant impact on my musical style.

2)What advice would you give to aspiring musicians who are just starting in the industry?
I would say to learn as much as you can about all aspects of this business. Not just the music side, but also the business side, because, especially as an independent musician, there is so much you can do today on your own that just wasn’t possible a while back due to the evolution of technology. Also, always trust your ears and be true to yourself, meaning love what you do and stay authentic to your artistic vision.

3)How has your music evolved over the years, and what factors have influenced this evolution?
Over the years, my music has evolved from guitar-driven bands to indie electronica with guitar elements in my first solo album. Now, my upcoming album leans heavily towards ambient house and is predominantly electronic. I guess this shift was influenced by personal experiences, technological advancements, and me wanting to explore new territories.

4)Do you have any weaknesses that you’re actively working to improve on?
One weakness I’ve identified is that I tend to over-arrange my music. So, I am actively working on stepping back and eliminating elements that don’t need to be in the track, even if they sound good. It’s hard but it’s better for the music.

5)Are there any challenges you’ve faced in your journey as a musician, and how have you overcome them?
When I was part of a band, ego clashes and decision-making issues often created problems, especially when it came to going on tour or managing day jobs alongside music. As a solo artist in today’s overcrowded musical universe, breaking through the noise and getting noticed has been my main challenge, especially with streaming numbers dominating the industry.
To cope with these challenges, I continue putting out music that I believe in, regardless of the outcome. For me, creating and sharing is essential, and I can’t imagine not doing it. So, I embrace the process and keep pushing forward, hoping that my music will connect with the right audience who appreciates what I have to offer.
