On the way to completing their debut EP project, OpenTAB is an indie rock and alternative rock band based in Winnipeg, who have been together for around five years, playing shows and working hard. Their recently released single ‘WYA’ is the first track they have released as a band. The song is molded with a comforting tone, with lyrics about wandering around for closure, which probably does not exist.

“The jelly-like beats and progressions of ‘WYA,’ mixed with the heartfelt, melancholic vocals, make it sound deliciously sweet.”
Guitarist Tim Dang, bassist Liam Merry, vocalist Alec Carlos, drummer Dawson Reynolds, and lead guitarist Brandon Froese are the five pieces of OpenTAB who complement each other impressively. Weaving together the strands of indie rock, alternative rock, post-grunge rock, and unique sounds, OpenTAB has created the captivating beauty of “WYA.”
The release is stunningly graceful, and the soft, easygoing flow of the song expresses that the emotions of the song are melancholic and disappointing, rather than angry or frustrating – the feelings you experience when you have accepted your fate but just can’t accept the truth. It’s about being blindsided by someone you would trust blindly. The solemnness dissolves in the notes of the guitar, giving the song a touching vibe and soulful atmosphere. The track is definitely a beautiful journey to go through!
