Hailing from Detroit, Michigan, Powers of the Monk was found by the original members Detroit Monk and Pontiac Powers. It formed in 2006 and but on pause in 2009. Now the duo has returned with new music and a new direction, initially the band was more experimental, but their comeback is more song based, Firefly is their fourth release after they have got back, and they are on track for releasing almost one song every month.

Firefly tells a story of a wannabe terrorist who sees messages in the blinking lights of fireflies at night, this delusion causes him to land into a world of terror which is far beyond anything he could be prepared for.
The opening music of the song creates palpable tension which persists subtly throughout the song, but it’s the haunting vocals that captivate you and keep you hooked till the end. The story driven lyrics depict the journey of how a person embarks on this path of salvation, instruments are meticulously used to add to the overall impact of the song.
