Imelda Gabs is Belgium-born and Congolese artist not confined by a single genre. Her music portrays her passion and emotions. She is a 24 years old independent singer, pianist, and producer. She studied piano, violin, and singing in Switzerland. The performance naturally came as she delved into composition and songwriting. She debuted at the Palais des Beaux-Arts in Brussels with her late father, jazz pianist Doctor Gabs. Her first written song, ‘Heartbeat’ was performed with renowned bass player Marcus Miller at the Montreux Jazz Academy in 2017. In addition to performing at the Montreux Jazz Festival, she opened for Lianne La Havas and The Roots.

“Thieves is an outstanding track by Imelda Gabs, reflecting on loss and betrayal.”
I recently discovered this track titled ‘Thevies’ by Imenda Gabs. This song is powerful and emotional. It showcases the singer’s incredible vocal range and songwriting skills. There is nothing like the raw emotion and vulnerability of the vocals on this track. There is a palpable sense of pain and anguish in her voice. The performance is so intense that it’s impossible not to be moved. I found the lyrics beautifully written and their imagery to be powerful. As a result of the minimalist arrangement, the song’s emotion shines through, creating a beautiful yet heartbreaking track.
Overall, This song is a must-listen if you enjoy soulful ballads that tug at the heartstrings.
